“Next week (plus a few days) I’ll be gone on vacation. Of course, I hate to go as I’ll miss all of you, but even Canon Law says we need to take a vacation every year, so I’ll try and make the most of it anyway, I hope you will too. Please make Fr. George Kramer feel welcome, as I know you will.”…Fr. Dave

Men Are Called to Discernment Towards the Diaconate - 2017 is a recruitment year for men who may be interested in becoming a permanent deacon in the Diocese of Jefferson City.  An informational meeting will be held Tuesday, July 18, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn following 6:00 p.m. Mass for men who feel they may have a calling to this ministry or want to learn more about it.   These meetings will provide information about the Diaconate, the formation program, what potential deacons can expect, and what the Diocese expects from them.  Several permanent deacons, men currently in formation, and their wives will be available to speak to the group or individuals to answer questions about this vocation.  Wives of interested men are also strongly encouraged to attend to have their questions and concerns addressed.   For more info, please contact Deacon Ray L. Purvis, Diaconate Office Coordinator, 573.635.9127, ext. 223, or email deacon2@diojeffcity.org.

Thank You to everyone for all you did to make our 50th anniversary special – for your presence, the cards, the prayers, all the congrats, etc.  Thank you and God bless you...from Bradley & Jeanie Birk

Congratulations to Bradley and Jeanie Birk on their 50th wedding anniversary on June 10!  God bless you!

Taste of Osage County – June 24, 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Linn City Park.

Catholic Missourian – Just a gentle reminder to check your June contribution envelope packet for the special contribution envelope for the “Catholic Missourian”.  The parish will soon be receiving an invoice for these subscriptions – your contribution for your own subscription will help defray the “parish” expense.  Contributions may be placed in an envelope marked “Catholic Missourian” and dropped in the collection basket.  The subscription amount is still $14.  Thank you.

Religious Freedom - There are many cases before the courts that take religious liberty into account. We always need to make sure our religious liberties are protected. We have great people who lobby and advocate for religious freedom. We can assist in that important work as well. And, as Catholics, we have another great opportunity by offering prayers and Masses.  The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops encourages you to pray for religious freedom especially during the upcoming Fortnight for Freedom: Freedom for Mission June 21 to July 4.

Youth of Osage County: Get connected with your Faith and have fun with your friends!  We are changing our location this month! Meet us June 21 at 8:00 p.m. at St. George parish grounds in Linn!  Join us for s'mores over the fire pit and an outdoor movie!  The plan is to watch "The Shack".  Bring a blanket or chair so you can get comfortable!  For this event family members of all ages are welcome - young and mature!  You don't need to have a child who is high school age to attend.  We look forward to seeing you there!   For more updates, follow the movement on Twitter @catholicyoc or text "CYOC" to (573) 342-9621.

Nun Run/Convent Hop – July 17-18 in St. Louis (departing from Jeff City).  Visit and tour convents and a monastery, learn about & speak with sisters from various religious orders & congregations.  Cost $125.  For more info, contact Jose Lopez at jlopez@diojeffcity.org, 573.635.9127, ext. 221.
