Text Box: “Well, Mother Nature is keeping us guessing. We don’t exactly know what will be happening again this week in the snow department. Obviously we’ll do what we can, but we want first of all for everyone to be safe and not take any unnecessary risks. So if it seems dangerous on the roads, please stay home as much as possible.
“End of year contribution statements are included in your packet of February’s envelopes. We are extremely grateful to each and every one of you who make a weekly or monthly sacrifice for the Lord. Supporting your church financially is a clear requirement for an active Christian life. Jesus clearly teaches the importance of the right use of this world’s goods. Tradition supports the necessity of tithing. It is even a Church law. Unfortunately, many of these envelopes are not used. (If you are giving anonymously that’s great, but why not take advantage of our tax laws?) So we encourage everyone to be as generous as possible each week. And remember, it’s not so much that we need the funds to pay our bills (which we do), but that you need to be generous and trusting toward God. It is God who asks you for a tithe (whatever the percentage) of your income, and he promises to take care of all your needs in return, plus Eternal Life to boot. Sounds like a great investment to me. “Store up your treasure in Heaven.”
“Another part of good stewardship is support of the diocese through our annual Stewardship Appeal. Assumption has reached 78% of the goal with 45% of parishioners giving something. MPH has reached 87% of its goal with only 27% of parishioners giving. The diocese will be conducting its annual Phone-a-thon in the next two weeks. So if you get a call and can make a pledge, please do so.  God bless.”...Fr. Dave

Stewardship Quote - In today's Gospel, Jesus urges the crowd to reform their lives. Good stewards remain mindful that their lives are in constant need of reform.  They realize the need to be liberated from those actions that keep them from enjoying a closer friendship with Jesus. What is it in our lives that we need to reform?  What keeps us from giving praise and glory to the Lord?
