**Note Weekday Mass Change – Mass on Tuesday for the coming week will be at 8:00 a.m.

Happy New Year. Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet? How about trying to attend daily Mass more often? Some reflections – Weekday Mass is a relatively new phenomena in the Church. The early Church and most of its history, there was no opportunity or call for daily Mass. The Lord’s Day – Sunday – always has and does take precedence. There is no commandment to attend daily Mass, indeed very few of the Catholics in the world have the opportunity of daily Mass, and many don’t even have Sunday Mass. Indeed even you have the opportunity not daily but twice a week. So why not take advantage of it. I think it is a special call for our retired/older parishioners. Those who still have to work every day cannot attend. But as we get older, God seems to start reminding us that life is short, that it will come to an end some day. Our thoughts and attention ought to start focusing on the Life-to-Come, on Heaven, and preparing for it someday. We should have more time for prayer and the things of God, and so should spend more time being about God’s business. A weekday Mass, or a time of adoration in Church are good ways of preparing for what will certainly come to us all.
FYI, we had a couple of pipes in the MPH fry shack freeze and break. We will need to get them repaired before the next event….Fr. Dave
