Pro-Life Events - 1) Rosary for Life on Friday, January 21, at 12:00 noon in the Capitol Rotunda in Jeff.  2) March for Life at the State Capitol in Jeff will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 22.

PSR News - PSR classes will meet this Wednesday, January 12.  On Wednesday, January 19, there will be a PSR Mass at 7:15 p.m.  Afternoon classes will meet as usual on that day; evening classes will meet at 7:00 p.m. and then proceed to Mass at 7:15 p.m.  Changes to PSR schedule:  the Lent reconciliation service has been moved to April 6 (because of Confirmation being on March 23), and the Stations of the Cross have been moved to April 13.

Action Requested by MO Right to Life - Under the Obama Healthcare Law pushed through Congress last year, Americans who could be saved will die because they can be prevented from using their own money to avoid involuntary denial of life-saving medical treatment.  H.R. 2 is expected to come up for a vote on January 12 in the U.S. House of Representatives.  URGENT! Please contact Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (202-225-2956, email at http://luetkemeyer.house.gov/) & urge him to vote "yes" on H.R. 2 to repeal the Obama Healthcare Law.  Give your name and address and tell him you wish to be recorded as "opposed to the Health Care Law because it will lead to rationing and violates right-to-life principles."

Text Box: “As we begin this New Year in earnest now, perhaps it is time to look ahead a bit and see what kind of resolutions we need to make as a parish. Or at least what direction we need to move in. There are several things that I feel will be important for us to be aware of and take charge of. Perhaps you have heard rumors that the ‘Mass will be changing’ again, or something similar. What will be happening this year is that we will begin using new translations of the liturgical texts. For instance our ‘new’ response to “The Lord be with You” will be “And with your Spirit”. This will all go into effect at the beginning of Advent this year. So we need to be ready, and we need to understand the ‘why’ of this new translation. So we have an opportunity this year to renew our understanding of our Catholic Liturgy and our role in it. How we do that is the question. I would like to ‘re-activate’ our liturgy commissions and get more people involved in helping to implement these changes. If you are interested and would like to volunteer, or if you would like to nominate someone, please let me know.
“Secondly, for Chamois, as we completed the renovations of the church, we noticed that the cornerstone was laid in 1911, and that the church was dedicated in May of 1912. So there was interest in marking the 100th anniversary of our church with celebrations throughout 2011 leading up to a celebration with the Bishop in May of 2012. So, again, anyone who would be interested in working on this please let me know, or nominate someone.
“Other things will continue. Our men’s program, That Man is You, will be offering a second semester of breakfast, videos and discussions. Men from both parishes are invited and encouraged to come; you need not have come to the first session to come to the second, as this will be primarily a Lenten program to help us use the season of Lent well, as we grow into better men. We begin again on Saturday, February 5.
“The Handbell Choir will have rehearsal on Monday evening at 7 pm. We need a couple of additional bell ringers and/or substitutes. Come if you are interested.
“God bless you this year.”...Fr. Dave

Handbell Choir Rehearsal - Mondays, January 10 & 17, at 7:00 p.m.

Action Requested by Missouri Catholic Conference (MCC) - Rick Clay is scheduled to be executed on January 12.  From the beginning, there have been troubling questions about who actually was responsible for the crime.  There has never been any direct physical evidence that linked Mr. Clay to the crime.  Complicating the case are claims by Clay's present attorneys that the prosecutors during the trial presented false and misleading evidence to the jury and prevented the jury from hearing evidence that supported Clay's innocence. The MCC has requested the following action immediately: 1) Contact Governor Nixon's office at 573-751-3222 or at constitservices@mo.gov and urge him to stop the execution set for Jan. 12 and convene a board of inquiry to re-examine the case.  2) Call the Board of Probation and Parole at 573-751-8488 - they will be making a recommendation to Gov. Nixon on the case.  Message:  Please spare the life of Rick Clay and do not execute him. The jury in his murder trial did not receive evidence that could have cleared him of this crime. The state of Missouri should take a second look before they execute a man who may be innocent. A board of inquiry should be established to re-examine Rick Clay's case.  You can learn more about Rick Clay's case at www.rickdclay.com.
