Children’s Education Initiative – Right now Catholics can support a proposed constitutional amendment that will expand educational opportunities to public and non-public school children.  The MO bishops strongly support this proposed amendment—the Children’s Education Initiative. This Initiative will not raise taxes on anyone, but will provide a tax credit to those who make a donation to a Children’s Education Foundation. The foundations can use the funds for any of three purposes: provide scholarships for children to attend non-public schools, including Catholic schools; offer funds to public schools to bolster the academic programs they offer to children; and enhance special education for children with disabilities. If sufficient signatures are gathered, this proposal will be considered at the November 2014 election. Please join with the MO bishops in supporting this Initiative. Help our children. Sign the petition!

Volunteers Needed! - If you are willing to be a petition circulator for this initiative, please contact Fr. Dave.  Thank you!

World Mission Collection – Next Sunday, Oct. 19. - Every day in India, hundreds of young girls are kidnapped and forced into child labor or prostitution.  Sr. Clara and her Salesian Sisters run Marialaya House, a ministry that rescues trafficked children in Chennai and gives the girls a home, an education, and a future.  Your World Mission Collection contribution helps Sr. Clara and other critical missionary efforts around the world.

Halloween Party at Most Pure Heart of Mary hall, October 30 at noon.  Both parishes invited and please ask your friends to come along.  Lunch will be chili at noon followed by Halloween candy as snack while we play bingo for household item prizes.  There is a Disaster Drill in Chamois on Oct. 30.  I have talked with Emergency Director, Andrea Rice.  She says our Halloween party will NOT interfere with the drill nor will the drill interfere with the party.  She says for us to drive and park just as we would on any other day.

Bailey’s Creek Cemetery Annual Meeting – Sunday, October 20, at 1:30 p.m. in MPH hall.

The Catholic Stewardship Appeal (CSA) has officially begun in our parish. You will receive information at your home from Bishop Gaydos. The CSA is our opportunity to join our brothers and sisters throughout northeast and central Missouri to bring the love of Jesus to those in need and participate in the saving work begun by Jesus.
