**Note Change in Weekday Mass Schedule - Wednesday’s Mass will be at 7:15 p.m.  PSR students will be helping with the liturgy for this Mass.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Text Box: “We are preparing to implement the new translation of the Mass on the first Sunday of Advent. We talked last week about how this change will make our ‘church’ language different from our ordinary life language which we hope will remind us that we are in church – a place deserving of greater reverence than our everyday life. Another way of showing greater reverence for the Mass is to then sing it. And so the new Roman Missal includes chants for all the parts of the Mass. I hope that we can implement many of these. Finally, Latin is the Church’s language. So the Latin is included and encouraged for several of the most important prayers: the Holy Holy and Lamb of God. So we can use those at times also. All of this to help us be mindful of what we are doing there – encountering God. The first change we will notice is the response to the priest’s greeting. You will now answer: “And with your spirit.” This is a reminder that you are not greeting just another person, but someone in whom the Spirit of Christ lives. We believe this because of the priest’s ordination into the priesthood of Jesus Christ.
“We invite all the MPH parishioners (especially those who volunteered) to a ‘parish council’ meeting on Thursday. Our agenda item will be mainly: what do we need here at MPH for the running of our parish.”...Fr. Dave

Text Box: World Mission Collection - This Sunday is World Mission Sunday.  We are called to this Eucharistic celebration - along with Catholics in every parish, chapel and church throughout the world - to fulfill the call we first heard at Baptism, the call to be missionaries, to share our faith.  On World Mission Sunday, we are invited to “celebrate the hope that saves” through prayer & participation in the Eucharist, and by giving generously to the collection today.   Let us pray for all who long to hear the hope-filled, saving message of Jesus, and for the priests, religious and lay catechists in mission countries worldwide who offer them that “Good News.”  If you forgot your envelope today, just drop in the collection basket next weekend.  Thank you.

The Protect Life Act (which states that no funds from the federal health care law may be used to pay for abortions and also includes conscience protections for health care institutions, etc.) has passed the U.S. House of Representatives.  MO Family Policy Council encourages you to contact Senator Claire McCaskill (202-224-6154 email at http://mccaskill.senate.gov) and Senator Roy Blunt (202-224-5721 email at http://blunt.senate.gov) and urge them to take up and pass the Protect Life Act, H.R. 358. Tell them you do not want any of your tax dollars to help pay for the killing of unborn children, whether through federal government programs or private insurance mandates.

Priesthood Sunday - Next Sunday, Oct. 30, is a national day set aside to honor the good priests who are so important in our lives.  It is a call for parishioners to focus on Christ as Priest and the men who are called to be his priests on earth.  It is a time for prayer, celebration, and dialog with your parish priest.  Priesthood Sunday is for priests, but it’s really for all Catholics.  Embrace its good intentions.  For more info, visit www.priestsunday.org.
