As we approach our national elections on Nov. 6th, I pray that all of us are praying for this most important election of our time. Pray that we will elect the leaders that will continue to make our nation great and strong, that will work to insure that we are a nation of righteousness and justice, and a nation that respects life, marriage, family, and religion. So I urge everyone to vote as an informed Catholic. There are many resources available for Catholics to help understand the issues, please make use of them. Remember if we vote for evil (through voting for a candidate that promotes an evil) we cooperate in that evil, if we pay taxes that go toward evil, we cooperate in that evil, and cooperation in evil is itself evil and a sin. We do indeed need to pray for our country and our future.
All Saints Holy Day and All Souls day are this week. I look forward to our special celebrations.

Parish Mission at Immaculate Conception parish in Loose Creek Nov. 5-7 (Monday-Wednesday) at 7:00 p.m.  Presented by Fr. Mike Coleman.  Theme:  “Growing Deeper in Love with Jesus!”  Details on poster in back of church.

Priesthood Sunday – This Sunday, Oct. 28, is a national day set aside to honor the good priests who are so important in our lives.  It is a call for parishioners to focus on Christ as Priest and the men who are called to be his priests on earth.  It is a time for prayer, celebration, and dialog with your parish priest.  Priesthood Sunday is for priests, but it’s really for all Catholics.  Embrace its good intentions.  For more info, visit www.priestsunday.org.

The Catholic Stewardship Appeal – As we contemplate His gifts to us, we should also reflect on our gratitude for these gifts. Your financial support for the work of our parish, of our Diocese, and of the Church throughout the world is, in fact, one way to express this gratitude. Your gift to the 2013 Catholic Stewardship Appeal is greatly appreciated and needed.
