Text Box: “I received my pledge card for the Catholic Stewardship Appeal the other week, as I’m sure you all did (yes, I’m expected to do my part also). The envelope is still on my desk. So I know it’s hard to write that check, or fill in the credit card information. So I’ll pledge to do it this week. I urge you too; to not put it off but to make the most generous gift you can to help Our Church here in central Missouri.
“The Assumption parish council will be working on getting the committees going. So we will be having the Fundraising Committee meet this Thursday evening at 7 pm. This is simply to be sure and coordinate all our fundraising events – breakfasts, fish frys and fall supper - and be sure we have people in place to head them up. Other ideas would be welcome. I urge all those who signed up and all interested parties to come on Thursday evening.
“As we continue to prepare for using the new translation of the Mass, we look at the Confiteorthe I confess of the penitential rite. Again for those who remember the Latin, we have a very direct translation, including - through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. At which time we are reminded to strike our breasts. Some might think we’ve gotten away from being sinners. But it’s an important theological fact – we all sin and even greatly sin, and sin on purpose. We must realize this, confess it and strive to overcome. There should be no mincing of words. This return to an earlier translation makes that clear.”...Fr. Dave

Priesthood Sunday (Oct. 30) - This Sunday we celebrate the men who have exercised a unique stewardship of their lives by entrusting them to the Lord as priests.  It is an opportunity for Catholics to thank, affirm, and share their love and support for priests.  We can also respond to our own baptismal call by working collaboratively with our priests to build up the Kingdom of God.  Priesthood Sunday is for priests, but it’s really for all Catholics.  Embrace its good intentions.  For more info, visit www.priestsunday.org.

First Friday (this week) Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus consists of attending Mass and receiving Holy Communion on nine consecutive First Fridays.

Catholic Stewardship Appeal - The 2012 Catholic Stewardship Appeal is every Catholic's opportunity within the Diocese of Jefferson City to share in the work of the Diocese and the mission of the Church. Our work is providing Catholic education and formation for our children, faith formation programs in our parishes, and reaching out to those who hunger and thirst within our communities.

Book of Remembrance - From the Feast of All Souls to the Feast of Christ the King is a month of remembrance of the faithful departed.  The Book of Remembrance for each parish will be placed in the back of each respective church.  You may add the names of others you would like to remember this month in addition to the Mass intentions.
