**Weekday Masses - There will be no weekday Masses for the coming two weeks.  However, there will be a communion service on Friday at 8:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s.  If you need a priest while Fr. Dave is gone, you may call St. George in Linn 897-2293, Immaculate Conception in Loose Creek 897-2922, St. George in Hermann, 486-2723, or the chancery 635-9127.

Priesthood Sunday (Oct. 31) - This Sunday we celebrate the men who have exercised a unique stewardship of their lives by entrusting them to the Lord as priests.  It is an opportunity for Catholics to thank, affirm, and share their love and support for priests.  We can also respond to our own baptismal call by working collaboratively with our priests to build up the Kingdom of God.  Priesthood Sunday is for priests, but it’s really for all Catholics.  Embrace its good intentions.  For more info, visit www.priestsunday.org.

Deep Appreciation - It is with humble and grateful appreciation that we acknowledge Marie Lieneke and Lucille Lamb for their many hours spent cleaning St. Mary’s Church!  Both have used their talent in this capacity for many, many, many years.  Marie has been doing this service for 40 years and has retired as of the end of September.  Thank you both all you have done for our Lord’s house.  Marie, may God bless you on your retirement.

Book of Remembrance - From the Feast of All Souls to the Feast of Christ the King is a month of remembrance of the faithful departed.  The Book of Remembrance for each parish has been placed in the back of each respective church.  You may add the names of others you would like to remember this month in addition to the Mass intentions.

Pro-Life Rosary - Monday, Nov. 1, at 9:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church.

Thank You for your generosity on World Mission Sunday for the missionary work of the Church!  This is a real blessing for the missions!  Please continue to pray for missionaries - and for the people to whom they bring the “Good News” of Jesus.  May God bless you for your generous missionary spirit!
Text Box: “I hope everyone has a good couple of weeks. As I’ve said, I’ve been invited back to Magadan for the 20th anniversary of the Catholic Church there. I’ll be gone until the 12th. I trust everyone will pitch in and keep things going. Unfortunately, it means I will not be here for All Saints Day on Monday, or All Souls Day on Tuesday. All Saints Day is NOT a Holy Day of obligation this year as it falls on a Monday, but it is still an important feast for us. You can catch Mass in Linn for All Saints Day on Monday at 8 am, or in Frankenstein at 9 am. There is daily Mass in Linn at 8 am on Mon, Tue, Wed and Fri, and at Frankenstein at 9 am on Thursdays. We have remembered our beloved dead already with Masses at both cemeteries, and we will do so throughout this month. Anyone with family or friends who have died in the last year, should list them in our Book of Remembrance of the dead.
“As you noticed this weekend, the diocese and we have begun the annual Diocesan Catholic Stewardship Appeal. While we might often feel overwhelmed by all the needs of the Church, on top of all the rest of the needs we encounter in life, this one is very important for the life of the local Church. I strongly encourage each and every one of us to be as generous as we can, and really, really beg everyone to at least do something. Therefore, 1) be as generous as you can. 2) if times, the economy, or your personal situation makes it very difficult and you decide you cannot give at this time, or pledge a future gift, then please return the pledge card/envelope with a dollar or 5 dollars to say that you would like to do more, but this is all you can afford right now. That will help us to increase our participation percentage. I would like to see our participation go up from last year, with or without an increase toward our parish goals. Last year 43% of Assumption’s parishioners helped reach 96% of the goal, and only 31% of Most Pure Heart of Mary’s parishioners contributed, reaching only 88% of the goal. I hope more people will consider participating, even if it is for a small amount.
“All our parish activities continue even without me. Handbell Choir practice will be on Monday evenings and we’ll have some guest ringers from the Hermann Handbell Choir helping out while I’m gone (if you’ve been wanting to try or know more about handbell ringing, you’re welcome to come at 7pm). PSR continues on Wednesday afternoons and evenings. The men’s group will meet on Saturday morning and all the rest of the parish activities. I’ll be thinking of all these two weeks. Fr. Joe Corel from the vocation office will be with us next Saturday and Sunday, so please make him welcome.”...Fr. Dave.

Assumption Hall Cleaning - Anyone who can help clean Assumption Church hall, please come Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 6:00 p.m.  Thanks in advance if you can help.

Deer Hunters Mass - Saturday, Nov. 13, 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Frankenstein.
