I want to remind everyone, especially Assumption parishioners, that we have gift cards available for almost every local and national store. They cost you nothing (that is, a $25 gift card costs $25, and gets you $25 worth of merchandise) but help our parish school fund. You can give them as gifts, spend them for the gifts you are going to buy anyway, or use them for on-line purchases so that you don’t have to give out credit card information. Since you will be doing Christmas shopping anyway, we can get up to 13% back when you use these gift cards. See Jamie for cards or more information (294-7323).
“I’ve included a personal letter to each of you with your December’s envelopes. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.”...Fr. Dave

CSA - Every single gift is important, so please make a decision to support the work of the diocesan church by participating in CSA today. If you have not yet responded, please make a pledge today. Thank you for your support!

Question of the Week – Paul's words to the Thessalonians are tough: if you want to eat, you must work!  How do you reconcile this with Jesus' command to love and feed the poor?

Handbells Rehearsal – Tues., Nov. 19, 7:00 p.m.

December Contribution Envelopes are available in the back of church.

Nursing Home Mass – A Mass will be offered for “John Fick” on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Autumn Meadows in Linn.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Children’s Education Initiative – This is a proposed constitutional amendment that will expand educational opportunities to public & non-public school children.  This initiative will not raise taxes on anyone, but will provide a tax credit to those who make a donation to a Children’s Education Foundation. The foundations can use the funds for any of three purposes: provide scholarships for children to attend non-public schools; offer funds to public schools to bolster the academic programs they offer to children; and enhance special education for children with disabilities. If sufficient signatures are gathered, this proposal will be considered at the November 2014 election. Petition circulators will be available next weekend after both Masses for those who wish to sign this petition.

Bishop Gaydos Invites You to join him for Mass at 2:00 p.m. in St. Joe’s Cathedral on Sunday, Nov. 24, the Solemnity of Christ the King.  Bring a favorite dish & gather in the undercroft after Mass for a pot-luck dinner & entertainment from around the world.

CCHD Collection – Next weekend, Nov. 23/24.  Be generous and help take poverty off the map.  See insert for more info.
