With today’s feast of Christ the King, we finish another liturgical year. Next weekend is the beginning of our Advent Season. Advent is a time of preparation! We are all well aware of all the preparations we need to get done, and all the activities we need to prepare for. But the Church has another type of preparation in mind – the preparation of our hearts to receive the new-born Christ once again into our lives and world. Christ really comes! But will our hearts be open to welcoming Him? In the midst of the activities and festivities of this joyous season, let’s remember the reason for the season – God coming into our world.
We have invited Sr. Laura Jean to be with us next Saturday for a half day of reflection, to help us still our hearts and prepare a place to welcome Christ. I hope many will take this short time to begin this Holy Season. We also have the daily five minutes with the WORD booklets. Please take one and take just a few minutes each day to read, reflect, and pray as we prepare for Christ’s birth.
Get your gift cards in support of St. George Catholic School/Assumption parish after Mass next Sunday from Jamie Koenigsfeld at Assumption. It’s a great no-cost-to-you way to support Catholic education.

Community Advent Service – Sunday, December 2, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Deer.

Advent Penance Services – Wednesday, December 12 at 6:00 p.m. at Assumption Church (Fr. Eddie Doyle ministering).  Reconciliation service at MPH on same day (Dec. 12) at 7:00 p.m. for parishioners and PSR students.
