Text Box: “It’s the Fourth Sunday of Advent already! Are we ready? Have we used well these first three weeks? We are into the home stretch.
“You might have noticed on the Christmas schedule that there is no Saturday evening Mass (on Christmas Day) for Sunday. That is because the Feast of Christmas (on Saturday) is more important than the feast of the Holy Family (on Sunday). So any Masses celebrated on Dec 25 would have to be a Christmas celebration. So, since we cannot celebrate the Holy Family on Dec 25, that Saturday evening Mass has been canceled. You can spend Christmas Day with your friends and family.
“I have your rectory decorated for Christmas, and you are invited to stop by anytime to see it (if I’m home, of course). After Christmas I’ll be glad to accept invitations to your house for the traditional New Year’s or Epiphany Blessings of homes.
“The men’s program - That Man is You! – has finished for this year. We’ll be starting the second semester (13 sessions) on Saturday morning Feb. 5th! It starts late, because Lent is late this year. The second semester is a Lenten journey. It leads us through Lent to Easter. We invite and encourage all men to join us. You need not have participated in the first session to come to the second.
“This is the final month for the Renovation drive in Chamois. We will be closing the books on that project and making a final report. If you wish to make a final contribution to the renovation fund, please do so this month. Next year please put those funds which you might have earmarked for the renovation in the Sunday collection – this will help us reach our normal budget goal for each week/month (and get us out of the negative numbers!?).
“A Merry Christmas to you and your family. May God bless you with abundant blessing this Holy Season and coming New Year. I will hold each of you in my heart and prayers at my Christmas Masses.”...Fr. Dave

? Of the Week - What experiences do you have of God “speaking to you” and directing your life and work?

Church Calendars for 2011 are available in the back of church.

Christmas Wreaths - The lovely Christmas wreaths which adorn Most Pure Heart of Mary Church doors were donated by Florence Boss’ family in her memory.

Vocation Office/Priestly Retirement Collection - Our diocese makes an assessment to all parishes each year at Christmas to pay for the educational expenses of our seminarians and to help fund the needs of our retired and infirm priests.  (St. Mary’s assessment $933, Assumption’s assessment $578.)  This collection is taken up during the Christmas Masses.  Please use the special contribution envelope in your packet and be generous in helping your parish pay its fair share of the expenses of our larger Church.

Special Collection Envelopes - These envelopes, which are included in your contribution envelope packet, if forgotten on the day of the special collection, can be dropped in the collection basket a week or two later.  These envelopes are those for a “special” collection, such as CCHD, Vocation Office/Priestly Retirement, etc.

Stewardship Quote - In today's Gospel we hear of the coming of Emmanuel, which means "God is with us." We celebrate three Advents: the birth of Christ, his Second Coming, and his presence in the world today. Our daily lives are attended by God's presence. Indeed, "God is with us." The Good News of Christ's Incarnation is that we are the sign, "sacrament", of Christ's presence in the world. People are supposed to see us, see how we love one another, see how we treat the stranger among us, give comfort to the poor and afflicted, share the Good News with joy. They see how good stewards are the light of Christ. And there can be no possible response except to say: "God is here!"
