A special thanks to all who made last weekend’s Tour of Homes & Churches such a success – decorators, welcomers, bell ringers, hosts & hostesses. All was very nice.
There has been a spontaneous gesture of placing decorations and flowers in front of our Pro-Life Angel and monument for our children in memory of the Newtown children. We remember to keep them and their families in our prayers throughout this holiday season.
I will again be happy to come to your home for a blessing of the New Year. Just let me know.
My prayers and blessings are for all of you this Christmas. May the newborn Lord bless you abundantly and pour His graces on you and your family. May His blessings overflow as you rejoice in the coming of your Lord and Savior….Fr. Dave

Vocation Office/Priestly Retirement Collection – Our diocese makes an assessment to all parishes each year at Christmas to pay for the educational expenses of our seminarians & to help fund the needs of our retired & infirm priests.  (MPH’s assessment $910, Assumption’s $685.)  This collection is taken up during the Christmas Masses.  Please use the special contribution envelope in your packet & be generous in helping your parish pay its fair share of the expenses of our larger Church.

Bishop’s Letter Christmas 2012
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As we celebrate this holy feast of Christmas during this Year of Faith, the words of the Angels spoken to the shepherds are proclaimed anew in our hearts.  “Do not be afraid for behold I proclaim to you good news of great joy, a Savior has been born for you who is Christ the Lord.”  Our Church makes these words her own as she announces to all people the joy and peace that were born on that first Christmas morning.
These angelic words led the shepherds to search for the Christ Child and to encounter and adore Him in the presence of Mary, His Mother and St. Joseph, the Holy Family.  So too for us, the words of the Angel invite us to contemplate the joy and hope of this Christmas Day.  God has sent us a Savior, His Son, who brings us lasting peace and joy.
So, do not be afraid!  Our Savior is born.  Let us adore Him with Mary and Joseph through our faithfulness in daily prayers for all, especially those entering or returning to the Church.  And together let us make Christ’s message during this time of the New Evangelization known to all by our words and examples, but most especially by our love for one another.
May the Baby Jesus continue to bless you and your families and may our Mother Mary and St. Joseph watch over you always.  I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas especially those who are far from home or in the hospital.

Sincerely yours in Christ…Most Reverend John R. Gaydos , Bishop of Jefferson City
