Text Box: “I just want to once again on this Feast of the Holy Family to wish everyone a most Blessed Christmas Season! May the Newborn Christ be with you and your family bringing much joy and happiness. May your lives be full of God’s grace. May you know the love of God who loved us enough to come down from heaven in order to share in our life with us! May the blessings of Christ be with you and your family.
“By the way, next Saturday, New Year’s Day- the Feast of Mary the Mother of God, is not technically a Holy Day of Obligation this year (it falls next to a Sunday), but we will be having Mass on Friday evening and Saturday morning in celebration of Mary – a good way to honor Our Lady and begin the New Year. Saturday evening’s Mass will be for Sunday – The Epiphany of the Lord.
“Stop by the rectory whenever you can to see how it’s decorated. I’ll also be happy to accept invitations to your house for the New Year/Epiphany Blessing of homes beginning this week, and throughout January.
“Thanks for all the prayers for Dad, he’s doing well and should be out of the hospital by the time you read this (though recuperating at my sister’s a little closer to the doctor for awhile).
     “Merry Christmas.”...Fr. Dave

Bishop Gaydos’ Christmas 2010 Pastoral Letter
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
It is with great joy and gratitude that I extend to all of you my Christmas greetings in this Year of Our Lord 2010! From Saint Luke's Gospel on Christmas morning we hear:
When the angels went away from them to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go, then to Bethlehem to see this thing which has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us." So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. (Luke 2:15-16)
During this Advent season, my constant prayer for you and your families has been that you make that prayerful pilgrimage to Bethlehem and draw ever closer to our Savior born there. Amid all the current struggles,
doubts and challenges of life, I hope that you and your families have had those opportunities to reflect more deeply on your faith and relationship with the Lord and His Church.
As we again joyfully celebrate the coming of Emmanuel -"God with us" - at Christmas and begin a new year of grace, might we all make a renewed effort to know and celebrate Christ's presence in our lives, as well as His dominion over all fear, hatred, sin and division. May the Lord Jesus Christ, born in Bethlehem, abundantly bless you, your families, and all your loved ones during this time of hope and grace.
Sincerely yours in Christ...Most Reverend John R. Gaydos, Bishop of Jefferson City
