PSR Service Project - Again this year our PSR students have adopted a family for Christmas as part of the Osage Caring Project Christmas Wish Program.  Reminder: for those wishing to bring a gift, make a monetary donation toward the purchase of gifts for the family, or give a gift card, all gifts must be brought to St. Mary’s hall by Wednesday, December 8.  If you need more details, please contact Mary Jane Starke 763-5595.  Thank you so much from the PSR students.

Advent - Take a few minutes a day to grow closer to the Lord before Christmas.  Spending just a few minutes a day will dramatically change your experience during Advent from one of commercialization to spiritual openness.  Copies of several Advent booklets are available in the back of church.  Please pick one up for your family and start a new Christmas tradition!

Text Box:“Advent – let us prepare for the coming of the Lord. Why is that important? The historical birth of Jesus is a past event. We aren’t expecting him to be born in Bethlehem again. The present coming of Christ – spiritually and sacramentally, in our hearts and at Mass, continues every day of our life. And the ‘third’ coming of Christ at the end of the world (His second coming in the flesh) we await someday in the future and pray for continually all year long. So why this special time of Advent? We need to celebrate and rejoice in the first coming in the flesh of Jesus, because remembering a past event makes it present and helps us realize the great importance of it. We particularly prepare for the second way of Christ’s coming also in order to make it more important in our lives. The more effort we put into preparing for something, the more important and memorable it is. People often prepare for years for a wedding celebration, and then they are truly ready and able to realize the importance of what they do that day. So, too, because we prepare so for Christ’s coming at Christmas, we are able to feel His presence with us in a special way. And always keeping in mind the second coming of Christ, reminds us of how short life is, and that we always need to be ready.
“So what are we doing? I hope that you have been able to find 5 minutes a day with the Word of God. I find the little booklet very beautiful and have heard so from several others. Many people took advantage of our Penance services last Wednesday, but if you weren’t able to make that, I am available any time, before and even after Mass - just let me know I need to be in the confessional. And this Wednesday is the Holy Day of the Immaculate Conception. Mary holds a special place in our Advent and Christmas celebrations, so we gather as a Church for this special celebration of the special gift of her Immaculate Conception.”...Fr. Dave
