Advent is our time of preparation - of preparing a place for Christ in our hearts. We need to clear out our old sins and put all in order. We all need to confess our sins and make a new start for Christmas. There will be the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday evening. Fr. Ed Doyle will be at  Assumption Church at 6 pm and then come to MPH when he is finished there. I suggest you get there between 6 and 6:30. Fr. Roberto Ike will be with us here at MPH after Mass about 6:30. The PSR students will be coming over and we’ll have a short first reconciliation service with them. Please come before 7:30, we’ll of course stay until everyone has had their opportunity for the sacrament.
Speaking of preparation, I’m hoping that people will step forward again for our Christmas Eve choirs. Let’s be sure to meet after Mass these weekends before Christmas to get organized and rehearse.
Next Sunday is the community Tour of Churches. I’m grateful for those whose efforts will see that both Churches have at least some of the Christmas decorations already in place. If you could act as host/hostess for either Church or rectory for a couple of hours next Sunday, please let me know at the office this week.
You probably noticed the new Pro-Life Monument outside of MPH Church. The monument is being donated by Morton Funeral Home and Capital Monument. We are grateful to them for this donation. The Angel statue is a gift from our K of C Ladies’ Auxiliary. We now need a plan for landscaping and finishing the pro-life garden there.

Advent Penance Services – Wednesday, December 12, at 6:00 p.m. at Assumption Church (Fr. Eddie Doyle ministering).  Reconciliation service at MPH on same day (Dec. 12) at 7:00 p.m. for parishioners and PSR students.

Diocese of Jefferson City to Air Advent Radio Spots Calling Catholics Back to Church - The Diocese of Jefferson City is airing commercial radio spots throughout the month of December in an Advent appeal that encourages inactive Catholics to attend weekend Mass.  The 30-second spots feature Bishop John R. Gaydos, who offers a seasonal reflection and invites Catholics back to church. The ads were produced by the diocesan Communications Office with the support of a grant from the Missouri Knights of Columbus.  The ads will run for four weeks on Jefferson City radio station 94.3 FM (KATI-KAT Country) beginning December 2 and on Eldon station 101.9 FM (KZWV-The Wave) starting December 9.  Those stations serve an area that includes a large portion of Diocese’s parishes in central and northern Missouri.  The spots will also air on Catholic Radio, 88.1 FM (KHJR) and the Mustard Seed programs on KWIX-AM 1120 in Moberly and KRRL-AM 1420 in California.
