Group Faith-Sharing Sessions at St. Mary's are being held once a week during Lent in St. Mary's hall on Friday mornings after the 8:00 a.m. Mass.  Come share a cup of coffee and discussion on how we can be "Disciples on the Journey.”  All are welcome to attend any sessions and all sessions.

Text Box: We have begun our season of Lent. It is our time together of prayer and penance. It should call us back to what is most important. And so we try and strip away all that is not essential. You’ve probably noticed that I’ve tried to give that feeling in our decorations, or lack of them. We have the altar simple, almost bare, our singing is also subdued. We’ll exit in silence, so that you can take some of that silence home with you. We’ll begin, not with a song, but with a penitential psalm – reminding us every week of that repentance to which we are called. Most importantly, remember it’s not so much what we do, but how we do it. If we make our offering to God with a sincere heart, He’ll accept whatever we give as a precious gift from us. Such is our God.
“One last reflection on the liturgy, (and please do try to make good use of the opportunity for silence at the Preparation of Gifts and after communion, as I see many are doing) and that is a little instruction written in the Profession of Faith. We are to make a bow at the words: “by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary and became man”.  I think such signs are very important; we are physical beings and we need to express our faith with our bodies. Bowing at such times is one way to do that.”...Fr. Dave

CYG Seafood Buffet - Plan to attend this scrumptious feast being hosted by our youth group - Friday, March 5, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.  Adults/$10, ages 6-12/$5.

Legislative Action Alerts - 1) House committee eliminates funding for abortion alternatives - please call your state representative (see contact info at end of paragraph) and State Representative Allen Icet, chair of the House Budget Committee, 573-751-1247, email Allen.Icet@house.mo.gov and urge them to support an amendment to restore the funding for the Alternatives to Abortion program.  2) Legislature promotes economic development legislation without pro-life protections - numerous economic development bills have been introduced in the House and Senate that provide tax credits or other incentives for certain research and development in the fields of life science, biology and pharmaceuticals. Without the protective language, this legislation could provide incentives to entities wishing to do research that would endanger or destroy human embryos. Please call your state senator and representative and urge them to support adopting pro-life protective language to any and all economic development proposals.  Contact info:  Rep. Tom Loehner, (573) 751-1344, email tom.loehner@house.mo.gov.  Sen. Frank Barnitz, (573) 751-2108, email Frank.Barnitz@senate.mo.gov.
