**Thursday Mass Time at Assumption during Lent will be at 6:30 p.m. followed by Stations.

Three-In-One Collection - This weekend we take up the Three-In-One Collection.  You are invited to give hope to Jesus in disguise.  Give hope to the community that has lost its livelihood to a crop disease; to the refugee child, separated from her mother; to the immigrant, trying to keep faith alive in a foreign land. The Three-In-One Collection helps to fund programs that give hope to refugees, immigrants, and the impoverished, including victims of war, natural disaster, and drought.  Through humanitarian, economic, pastoral, and advocacy efforts, the Three-In-One Collection gives hope.  Please be generous in this weekend’s collection.  If you forgot your envelope today, just drop it in the collection basket next weekend.

Stations of the Cross are offered during Lent at Assumption on Thursdays after the 6:30 p.m. Mass and at St. Mary's on Fridays at 6:30 p.m.  Also, for the coming week, Stations of the Cross will be offered on Wednesday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. and will be led by PSR grades 3, 4, & 5.  All are welcome.

PSR News - On Wednesday, March 17, grades 3, 4, & 5 will lead Stations of the Cross at 7:30 p.m.  PSR evening classes will begin as usual at 7:00 p.m. - then proceed to church for the Stations at 7:30 p.m.

Lenten Quiet Hour - Bethel Salem Presbyterian women invite you to a Lenten Quiet Hour on Saturday, March 20, at 10:30 a.m.  Donations for the Haiti disaster of money or cloth diapers.  RSVP Marilyn Nolting 943-6372 or Karen Niewald 943-2236.  Details on poster in back of St. Mary’s Church.

Lenten Reconciliation Services (at 7:00 p.m.) - March 24 in Chamois, March 24 in Loose Creek, March 25 in Hermann, March 31 in Westphalia.

Text Box: Today is ‘Laetare’ Sunday, which means rejoicing. We rejoice at the coming celebration of our redemption. So Lent has taken a subtle turn. We have been preparing ourselves for Easter through repentance. Now that we have repented, and done penance, it’s time to turn our attention to the coming celebration of Christ’s supreme redemptive act for us - that is his death and resurrection. Now is the time to more seriously reflect and meditate on what Christ has done for us, namely, offered his life on the cross to pay our debt for sin, and died for our salvation. I hope that in these final weeks of Lent, we can all reflect more fully on these mysteries. Now would be a good time to really make the effort to walk the Way of the Cross with Jesus, either together on Thursday (Morrison) or Friday (Chamois) evening, or as part of your daily/weekly prayer. And especially make plans now (and I’ll be reminding you in the next couple of weeks) to participate in the Holy Week Services of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday! This is the center of our faith life. I can’t believe that there are Catholics who have never participated in these High Holy Day services. It is the events we commemorate on these days – The Last Supper – the Crucifixion – and Resurrection – that give meaning to our lives and our hope for everlasting life. It’s really important that we give them priority in our lives.
“We have received news from Bishop Gaydos, that the planned date for his visit to bless the remodeling in Chamois will no longer work for him. So we have changed it to Sunday May 2. It will now be a Sunday morning with a brunch reception after Mass. Anyone willing to help with the brunch/reception is invited to a meeting in the rectory this Tuesday, March 16, at 7 pm.
“In our finances this week, we did not have enough in our (St. Mary’s) checking account for all the bills that have come in already for this month. Hopefully, by the end of the month there will be enough to cover all bills. But this just shows how important are the extra fundraisers we do each year. Therefore, I really ask and encourage everyone to do all that is possible to make our Spring Dinner a big success. Please help, participate, invite your friends, and sell raffle tickets to help keep us above water all the time.
     “God bless.”...Fr. Dave

Health Care Bill - President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are making a final, all-out push to ram through a massive health care restructuring bill that the National Right to Life Committee has branded "the most pro-abortion single piece of legislation that has ever come to the House floor for a vote."  Action requested by Missouri Right to Life:  Even if you previously have called your representative (Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer, 202-225-2956, http://luetkemeyer.house.gov.) to oppose the health care bill -- please do it again! And ask any like-minded friends and relatives to do the same.  For more info, visit www.missourilife.org.

Weekend Mass Location Change - Beginning the first weekend in April, we will continue our tradition of switching the location for the weekend Masses.  Therefore, effective the weekend of April 3/4, the Saturday evening Mass will be at Assumption and the Sunday morning Mass will be at St. Mary’s.  Please note that since this is Easter weekend, the Mass times are 9:00 p.m. on Saturday (4/3) at Assumption and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday (4/4) at St. Mary’s.  Beginning the following weekend, April 10/11, the Saturday evening Mass will be at Assumption at 6:00 p.m. (please note that the Saturday evening Mass time will stay at 6:00 p.m.).  The Sunday morning Mass will then be at 8:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s.

Do You Need To Get Away From It All? - Come for a quiet weekend with our Lord.  A retreat at the Marianist Retreat Center at Eureka, MO, begins Friday, March 26, with 5:30 p.m. supper and closes Sunday with lunch at 12:00.  Call Clarine Means 763-5667 for all the details.  We go with the Hermann women.
