“Habemus Papam! We have a new pope! I was surprised and excited as everyone with the election of Pope Francis. It seems as if the Holy Spirit gave us a humble and holy man to be our Holy Father. We should pray for him daily, as we do at every Mass. We should pray always for the Church to truly be that presence of Christ in the world that He wants it to be. We’ll celebrate with the universal church Pope Francis’ installation on Tuesday, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, with Mass at 10 am at Assumption.
“Next Sunday is already Palm Sunday – the beginning of Holy Week! This is what we’ve been preparing for all Lent. Let us make this truly a holy week. Let’s all strive to finish this season of penitence by participating fully in the liturgies of these holy days – Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. They are the most solemn days of our Church’s year.”...Fr. Dave
