Lent Scripture Sharing at St. Mary’s - Everyone is welcome to grow together in faith by sharing the Lenten scriptures every Thursday morning during Lent at 9:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s hall.  Be prepared by reading the scriptures for the upcoming Sunday of Lent.

Text Box: Sacrament of Confirmation - On this Wednesday, March 23, the following will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation:
Ethan Hagenhoff       Klayton Kuschel       Jacob Trachsel
Andrea Schollmeyer  Brady Stone
This sacrament will take place at 7:00 p.m. at St. George in Linn.  Everyone is invited to support them with your prayers and your presence as they receive this special sacrament.

Text Box: Lent is the time when we do a little extra for the Lord and for our spiritual life. So I wanted to do a ‘little extra’ for you this year by offering what I am calling these parish ‘missions’. They are a series of evening gatherings with Mass, an extended homily, and a time of adoration/quiet prayer. Assumption’s Mission will be this week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Mass will start at 6 pm with the extended homily so maybe about an hour. Then there will be Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament with perhaps a short time of prayer, but basically just silent adoration. I will be available for the sacrament of Reconciliation till 7:50 when we’ll have benediction to end the evening. One is welcome to come for any part you want. My homily themes will be: Mon – Genesis, fall and covenant; Tues – Passover/Eucharist; Thur – The Problem of Evil; Fri – Jesus, liar lunatic or Lord?
Oh, Good News! Friday is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord - March 25 – nine months before Christmas. And Solemnities are not days of fast or abstinence, so it’s practically forbidden to abstain next Friday. Have a feast in honor of the Lord’s Incarnation.
“I’ve signed up for a priest leadership program called “Good Leaders, Good Shepherds.” It’s supposed to make us better pastors and priests, so I thought I better sign up. Unfortunately, the first (and longest) session is March 29-April 1 which means no weekday Masses that week.
“I think it important that we alter between Assumption and Most Pure Heart parishes our yearly celebration of the Holy Triduum – our Three Holiest Days – Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil. So Holy Thursday and Good Friday this year will be at Assumption, and our Easter Vigil will be at MPH at 9 pm.
“Don’t forget the bulletin is also on our websites, which also includes a parish calendar. So you can check there for times also.
“Weekend Mass locations change April 2/3.
“May you have a blessed Lent.”...Fr. Dave
