Bishop’s Easter Letter
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
May the grace and peace of the Risen Lord Jesus be with you!  Today we are united with the whole Church throughout the world in rejoicing in the victory of Our Lord and Savior over sin and death.  For this reason, Easter is not simply one feast among many, but it is the ‘Feast of All Feasts, the Solemnity of All Solemnities.’  This fact is our cause for rejoicing in a special way during this Year of Faith.  The hope and promise of the Risen Christ permeates every aspect of our daily lives.  Easter has changed the course of human history for all time.
How blest are we that God the Father has given us a share in the victory of His Son through the gift of faith and through the Sacraments, especially Baptism and the Most Holy Eucharist!  What a difference it makes in our lives to know that when we face temptations or difficulties we are united with Jesus who emerged victorious that Easter morning.  The events of this past Lent with the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI and the election of our new Pope Francis remind us that Christ continually takes care of His Church.
I pray that God will deepen our faith in the Resurrection and may the renewal of our Baptismal promises draw us ever more fully into the life of the Church.  Finally, I wish to warmly welcome all those who have joined the Church during the Great Easter Vigil.  Please know that you and your loved ones are in my daily prayers and Masses.
With my best wishes and personal regards, I am

Sincerely yours in Christ…Most Reverend John R. Gaydos, Bishop of Jefferson City
