“As we have begun in earnest our Lenten Pilgrimage, we are reminded again that this life is also a pilgrimage, and we are headed toward the eternal sanctuary of God in Heaven. Last Sunday Jesus challenged us to not worry about what we were to eat or drink or wear as we journey along this road of life. In this Sunday’s gospel we are reminded that we are faced with temptation in this life. Eve and Adam faced the temptation of the serpent – and failed. Jesus faced the same evil serpent in the desert – and overcame. Our Lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are all designed to strengthen us to face these temptations – and with Christ’s help to overcome them. Let us joyfully take up these Lenten practices so as to reach our life’s goal.”...Fr. Dave
