Text Box: “‘Christ redeemed us all and gave perfect glory to God principally through his paschal mystery: dying he destroyed our death and rising he restored our life. Therefore, the Easter Triduum of the passion and resurrection of Christ is the culmination of the entire liturgical year.’ These are words from the Church about these coming days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. I once again urge everyone to make the extra effort to participate in these holy days. All who are able should participate in the evening liturgies. All are called to make these days holy. The Good Friday fast is a particularly important way of commemorating the Lord’s crucifixion. It is suggested to extend it throughout Holy Saturday also, until the vigil.
“Those who take communion to the sick at home, should make an effort to attend The Mass of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday, and be prepared to take communion from that Mass to your homebound, so that they can also share in these holy days.
“I pray that each of you and your families will come to a deeper knowledge of our God who loves you and who suffered and died for you, and who rose again that you may have life. Through our celebration of these holy days, may we all be touched by the great love our God has for us, grow in faith, and be able to live more fully for Him.”...Fr. Dave

Urge Defeat of Weak Payday Lending Bill - A weak payday lending reform bill will be voted on as early as Monday afternoon (April 18) in the MO House of Representatives.  Brief list of some reforms that would allow the industry to make a reasonable profit while protecting consumers:  1) Fees capped at no more than $10 per $100 loaned (HB 656 allows up to 60% of original loan); 2) No renewals of the same loan (HB 656 allows 3 renewals); and 3) Requiring payday lenders to check that the borrower does not have an outstanding payday loan with another shop.  Action requested by MO Catholic Conference:  Contact Representative Tom Loehner (573-751-1344 email Tom.Loehner@house.mo.gov) immediately and urge a "NO" vote on HB 656.

Your Attitude Must be Christ’s - Through our support of Operation Rice Bowl, Catholic Relief Services gives more than short-term assistance to poor countries; it establishes long-term, person-focused, sustainable programs that provide better opportunities for each individual, and it remains in communities to help these efforts succeed.  Rice Bowls - checks or change may be put in your Rice Bowl, then place Rice Bowl  in the collection box in back of church.

Text Box: Attention Most Pure and Assumption Parishioners - Music is the language of the world. Music also builds bridges between generations and this is exactly what will happen with our Funfest program, April 27. Please come and bring a friend. Students in the Music Program at the Chamois School will be sharing their talent with us. We will serve fruit, coffee and punch for all. Hope to see you at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church hall at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27.

Stewardship Quote - In Saint Paul's letter to the Philippians he makes clear that Christ "emptied himself." He was not "full of himself." Jesus embraced the characteristics of humility, service and obedience to carry out the will of the Father. Christian stewards know that there is no room for the Lord in a life that is full of oneself. Christian stewards follow Christ's example by taking on the characteristics of humility, servanthood and obedience. Our culture does not reward this attitude. But God exalts those stewards who for His sake, empty themselves. It is only when we empty ourselves that there is room for God to work within us.
