“I’m happy to say that the original adoring angels from the original High Altar at MPH have been returned and restored and are again back in their place. At the 2012 restoration effort the Blessed Mother and St. John at the foot of the cross, and the Sacred Heart, and the large angels holding candles were located and returned. One of the angels was saved by Rex and Dora White, and we found and purchased it back at their estate auction. The other was preserved by Michael Nolte, son of Shirley and Henry, and generously donated back to us, that they might be restored to their original positions. Thanks, Michael, for your desire to re-unite these angels and restore them to their place.
“I am grateful for all who participated in this week’s planning meeting with the diocesan facilitator. We had 8 people from Assumption and 9 from MPH. We came up with some needs or areas that we can work on. Now we need to meet as a parish (council) to decide on what will be our parish goal. So let’s just jump on them and meet again at Assumption on Tuesday evening at 7pm May 2 and on Thursday evening at MPH May 4, 7 pm. I encourage everyone who was at this week’s meeting to come to this follow up, but everyone is invited. We’ll work on the 6 goals for the diocese and other needs of each parish.
“I will be on retreat with other priests of the Jefferson City diocese all this week. That means there will be no daily Mass this week. I will keep everyone in my prayers. God Bless.”…Fr. Dave

Catholic Home Missions Appeal - Next weekend’s special collection. Right now, over 40 percent of dioceses in the U.S. are considered home missions because they are unable to fund essential pastoral work needed in their communities. Your support of this appeal helps ease the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this appeal.

Action Alert from MO Catholic Conference – Low-income elderly and disabled renters have been able to claim a tax credit for a portion of the rent they pay.  Now the general assembly is considering legislation to repeal the renters' credit.  Contact Senator Mike Kehoe (573-751-2076, mike.kehoe@senate.mo.gov) and ask him to please NOT repeal the tax credit for elderly and disabled renters who are poor. This credit offers a lifeline to the poor in meeting urgent needs. Oppose HCB 3.
