**Note Changes in Weekday Mass Schedule – The only weekday Mass at Assumption for the coming week will be on Monday at 10:00 a.m.  There will be no Mass on Thursday.

As you know, I only have two more weeks (Palm Sunday & Easter!), before I begin my ten-week sabbatical. I trust that you can carry on without me for a bit and welcome the priests that will be with you on the weekends. Here are several things in which volunteers will need to step forward and take care of when I am gone, continuing, of course, all that you normally do! First of all, take care of the sick and homebound. Many people do this regularly, but I remind you to be aware of who is unable to make it to church, and visit them and see if you can help, and even bring communion to them. If there is a communion minister from both parishes willing to take communion to some of these, please let me know. Secondly, let’s be sure that we have ministers for the visiting priests (MPH especially!). Watch the schedule and if you can’t be there, please be sure to find a substitute. Also be more willing to fill in at the last minute. In fact you can check as you come into church to see if Father has any questions, if everything is set, or if you can help in any way. If you are accompanying someone who can’t get out of the pew for communion, ask Father before Mass (or even when you go up to communion) to bring communion to them in the pew. We’ll need people to open and close the churches every weekend and someone to pick up the bulletins on Friday afternoon for Assumption. Everyone should keep an eye on the buildings and property, take care of whatever needs to be done and/or report any problems or concerns to the building committee, or Evelyn. Since you’ve always taken care of one another and your parishes in this way, you’ll probably not even notice that I’m gone. I will, of course, carry each one of you and your concerns with me in my heart and prayers to the Altar of St. James.”...Fr. Dave
