Text Box: I received an interesting letter from the First Baptist Church in Linn this week. It read in part: I’m sure you would agree with me that religious liberty is one of America’s most important and cherished freedoms. Whether you are Catholic, Protestant, non-denominational or just deeply spiritual, your religious freedom is precious to you. There are forces, however, who would seek to deny Americans their freedom to publicly express their religious conviction…The Missouri General Assembly passed The Religious Freedom in Public Places amendment which will appear on the August 7, 2012 State primary Ballot….The Christian Life Commission of the Missouri Baptist Convention and the Missouri Catholic Bishops Conference both support the passage of Amendment 2. If you care about your religious liberty rights, I encourage you to vote “yes” for Amendment 2 on Aug. 7. So as we can see Religious Freedom is not just a ‘Catholic’ issue, but all Catholics should take this seriously and be sure to vote, and vote in people who will respect and protect Religious Freedom.
“I look forward to seeing and being with all our kids this week at Camp Hope. Hope to see a lot of parishioners at our closing Mass on Friday and pot luck afterwards.
“I appreciate all the hard work being put into our Fish and Shrimp Buffet, coming up. Please support it by selling lots of raffle tickets and coming to work that day. We depend on all of you. God bless.”...Fr. Dave

Text Box: Diocesan Mission Collection - This weekend is our annual collection for the diocesan missions.  If you forgot your envelope, please put it in the basket next week.  As we celebrate 50 years of sharing our faith & our blessings with the people of Peru, please keep the missions in your prayers.  The world is a very different place than it was when our priests first went to the mountains & rural desert of Peru, but it is just as much in need of the hope of the Gospel and our loving care.
