Text Box: “We began our men’s program “That Man is You!” this weekend, and I’m sure it’s going to be a great help to all of us. All our men are welcome and I encourage you to join us next week, even if you weren’t able to be there this week. And if you missed it, you can see a summary on the TMIY website. Go to: www.thatmanisyou.org, click on the blue "Year 1" button on the left, then click on "Presentation Index" button on the left. We certainly need the support as men to be the good leaders of our families and church which we should be.
“We have 5 committed handbell ringers. We only need three more. Please let me know if you are interested, or we’ll be reaching out to the community for the other positions. We hope the bells will be here soon.
“PSR begins on Wednesday and we still need a catechist for the 4th and 5th grade kids. Please let me know right away if you can help, or have any suggestions for taking care of this, or can help out in any way at all. It’s all of our responsibility to pass on our faith to our children. See you all on Wednesday.”...Fr. Dave

That Man is You! men’s program continues this Saturday, Sept. 25.  All men welcome and encouraged to come.  Breakfast served beginning at 5:45 a.m., presentation at 6:15 a.m., finished by 7:25 a.m.

Join the Missouri Catholic Conference (MCC) Citizens’ Network - At the Masses next weekend our parishes will conduct a registration drive for the MCC Citizens’ Network.  Through the involvement of Catholics, the MCC has had many successes, such as enacting a ban on partial birth abortions, expanding health care to the poor, and passing a tough new law to regulate triple X pornography stores.  But much more good can be done.  Those who sign up are kept informed through regular MCC emails and are put in contact with their legislators when votes are pending.  The MCC is the official public policy agency for the Catholic Church in Missouri.

Text Box: Heart of Mary Funfest - September 29, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s hall. Please come with questions about your Medicare, Advantage Plan, and/or Drug Plan. Lucy Brenner, Parish Nurse, has been to a Medicare course and is eager to share what she has learned. Lucy will make a presentation. During this presentation questions/concerns will be encouraged. Refreshments will follow.

Family Day – A Day to Eat Dinner with your Children is a national movement that encourages parents to frequently eat dinner with their kids.  The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University has found that the more often kids eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs.  Family Day will be celebrated nationwide on Monday, September 27, 2010. To learn how you can celebrate Family Day and take the Family Day Star Pledge, log onto  www.CASAFamilyDay.org.

“Thanks be to God!” is the theme of the 2010 Jr. High and High School Youth Rallies being offered by the Diocesan Office of Youth Ministry. The rallies will take place October 9 (Jr. High) and 10 (High School) at St. Pius X Church in Moberly. Nationally acclaimed speaker, Mike Patin, will keynote both days. These events will be filled with a lot of fun and fellowship, as well as an occasion for all present to grow in their faith. Cost is $15 ($10 for adults). Contact the parish office or the Youth Office at the Chancery 573-635-9127, ext 221 to register. Registration deadline is October 4.

Assumption Fall Dinner - Sunday, October 3, 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.  Serving scrumptious fried chicken with all the trimmings.  Country store also.  Adults/$8.50, ages 6-12/$4, ages 5 and under/free.
