Text Box: “With Labor Day upon us and the start of another school year, it’s certainly time to begin looking and planning ahead. As you know, we are small parishes, and so I never felt that we needed a large, formal structure for our organization. Things can and have gotten done without a lot of meetings. For this I am grateful. However, perhaps I have gone too far in the unorganized direction, and we need to again put some organization back in place. But if we desire more planning and organization, if you don’t want ‘father to take care of it’, then that means you need to be involved. So next weekend, we’ll have aTime and Talent sign-up Sunday. We would like to reinvigorate our committees and get new members on them. So please take some time this week to reflect on what you can do for your parish and how you can share your time and talent with us – which we know is really sharing with God and a gift back to Him. Will you serve or continue serving on the Parish Council, Liturgy, Finance, Maintenance, Youth/PSR, Fundraising, Social, Adult Ed, or Anniversary Committee?? Because we are small parishes, we need each and everyone to help out with one or the other of these committees. We’ll have more info next week as I reflect in my homily and then ask everyone to indicate in which of these areas you will help with. In addition, we’ll ask everyone to also indicate how you will serve at our Sunday Liturgy. As Catholics, Sunday Mass is not optional. And no longer can ‘Father’ do it alone. So as long as you need to be here anyway, we need you to serve as Lector, Server, Communion Minister, Usher, Greeter, Rosary Leader, Sacristan, or Music.
“I serve on the Osage Co Historical Society, which owns and maintains the Townley House. But it’s a great Chamois asset, and so we need to care for it. In preparation for Chamois Day, I’ll be organizing and needing a little help with some outside trimming and clean up, next Saturday, Sept. 10, 9 am. All are welcome, bring gloves and trimmers.
“Have a happy and safe Labor Day.”...Fr. Dave
