Text Box: “We’ve had a lot of interest in the upcoming men’s program; That Man is You. We appreciate the interest and the help. Just to be clear; we will be welcoming men at 5:45 am (yawn!) for breakfast, the beginning of the presentation will be at 6:15, so as to finish by 7:25, and people can get on to the fields and work. So please join us. If you are planning to participate as much as possible (we know there might be occasions where you’ll have to miss a week or so) in this program this fall until Christmas (we’ll worry about next year’s session later), we ask you to take a moment this morning to fill out a registration card and leave it here (do not mail to Texas as it says!). Or bring it back next week. We’ll take care of the registration from there. We’re grateful to those who have already registered on-line.
“We are planning on beginning PSR on Wed September 22, 3:30 pm for Kindergarten-Grade 2, 7 pm for Grades 3-12. We still need a couple of catechists, so I’ll be calling the parents this week, to see if they will volunteer.
“With Labor Day weekend, it’s the beginning of another school year and the busy time for our parishes. I look forward to our new programs and continuing the things of the past. I also look to all of you to help make our parishes into vibrant and living parishes. I certainly can’t do it alone. I know we are small parishes - we depend on the faithful commitments of our regular long-time members, and look to involve new and younger members all the time. So please step forward and let’s make it happen together.
“Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.”...Fr. Dave

If You Build it, They Will Come - Well, maybe. In the movie Field of Dreams, Shoeless Joe Jackson tells Kevin Costner's character, "If you build it, he will come." Costner's character uses prime Iowa farmland to build a baseball field. The local farmers think he's crazy, but his baseball field draws fans from all over the Midwest.  The MCC has built its own version of the Costner baseball field and it is called the MCC Annual Assembly. We have one of the strongest line-ups of workshop presenters in recent years. It includes Archbishop Robert J. Carlson, the Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court, William Ray Price, Jr., and Father Michael Coleman, a previous speaker at the annual governor's prayer breakfast. The keynoter is Bishop Emeritus John J. Leibrecht of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau.  So, the field is built, but will the people come? Don't miss this Annual Assembly! As a reminder, it will be held in the Missouri Capitol on Saturday, October 2.  Activities for youth, child care available for ages 5-12.  9:30 a.m. registration-3:15 p.m. closing Mass.  Everything is free, even lunch.  For detailed info/to register, pick up a brochure from the back of church, call 1-800-456-1679, or visit
